Wondering Who Teaches
In a Specific Program?

While each Alliant campus is home to faculty from multiple schools, potential students are most interested in learning about those affiliated with the school and/or program they are considering. To find out more about your faculty, please explore the school links below:

California School of Professional Psychology

Graduate School of Education

Marshall Goldsmith School of Management

Center for Forensics (CFS)

To serve its diversified program offerings, the LA campus has developed a varied faculty from within the discipline of psychology and other human service fields. Since the California School of Professional Psychology is the largest of the schools within the Alliant family, the largest number of faculty are clinical psychologists by training.

However, the areas of behavioral, organizational, social, physiological, experimental, developmental, school, and counseling psychology are also represented within CSPP and Marshall Goldsmith School of Management programs. Experienced educators teach within the Graduate School of Education.

Teaching & Dissertation Assignments

Core faculty teach approximately half of the courses in our programs, advise students, staff the admissions processes, and author academic policy and procedure. Together with external research faculty, they supervise all doctoral dissertations and doctoral projects.

Approximately 50 adjunct faculty work with the school during the year in the delivery of approximately half of the coursework. Recruited for their specific expertise, each teaches from one to three courses and is available to students for out-of-class discussion and consultation. About one-third of the adjunct faculty have been teaching at the school in their area of expertise for over five years.

Research faculty are carefully selected scholars in an area of expertise for which a student has developed a dissertation topic. Research faculty serve as mentors to the students throughout the dissertation process.

Faculty Governance Activities

Core faculty advises the University on academic policy development and faculty welfare. This is done through faculty committees and task forces and, in the clinical programs, emphasis-related "workgroups" (a group of faculty affiliated with an emphasis). Faculty are directly involved in all aspects of the academic program including student recruitment, selection, monitoring, evaluation, curriculum development, faculty recruitment, and performance monitoring.
